IB Maths Tutor in Hong Kong — Analysis and Approaches, HL and SL
Hong Kong students sit the Diploma in one of the most academically intense environments in the world. Across the ESF schools, Chinese International School, Harrow Hong Kong, Canadian International and German Swiss, the IB is the dominant pathway — and the pressure surrounding it is considerable.
I am a British-trained mathematics tutor with 25 years of full-time experience, teaching Hong Kong students one-to-one online.

Why UK training matters for Hong Kong IB students
A large proportion of Hong Kong IB students are working towards UK universities. That makes the destination as relevant as the diploma. I have spent over two decades preparing students for exactly that route — including admissions testing such as the TMUA for London School of Economics, which now sits in front of several competitive mathematics and economics courses.
Students I have taught have gone on to Oxford, LSE and Imperial, and I have worked with students from St Paul’s, Westminster, King’s College Wimbledon, North London Collegiate and Godolphin & Latymer. Dulwich College and Wellington College, both of which run campuses in Asia, are among the schools whose students I have taught in the UK.
families I work with
I work with families who want their child to do genuinely well — not families looking to extract a number at any cost.
Some of my students are aiming at the most competitive universities. Others are capable young people who have started to dread a subject, and whose parents would simply like that to stop. In my experience, the second group often ends up somewhere better than anyone expected, because confidence turns out to be the constraint rather than ability.

FAQs
I am based in different countries in Asia. Teaching is delivered one-to-one online, scheduled in Hong Kong time. This means Hong Kong families get a UK-trained specialist without the compromise of UK-hours scheduling.
I prepare students for the mathematical demands of competitive UK courses, including TMUA preparation. Students I have taught have gone on to Oxford, LSE and Imperial. I am a mathematics tutor rather than an admissions consultant, so my focus is the mathematics and the entrance testing.
Rates are agreed individually, depending on level, frequency and the work involved. I take a limited number of students each academic year. The assessment call is free, and there is no obligation.
